Business Sector

When breaking down the local business ecosystem by number of businesses, ignoring number of employees, the top three sectors are:

1. Real Estate and Rental and Leasing 
2. Construction
3. Agriculture, Forestry, Fishing and Hunting

Of these three, the majority of the businesses are operated by a self-employed individual, with Real Estate / Rental / Leasing having the greatest concentration.

Self-employed individuals make up 69% of the total businesses in Strathroy-Caradoc.

Regarding larger businesses, the Manufacturing sector is the largest sector with a greater percentage of businesses having employees versus being self-employed. Of the 15 companies with over 100 employees, 5 of them (or 33%) are within Manufacturing.
